Colah Colah - Steady Meddi Every Day (Klangschatz Productions)

By Jah Rebel

Earlier this year, Colah Colah already presented 'I-Frequency', an album he recorded with Brazil based German producer DJ Michael Berth. It seems that the collaboration was a rewarding one, as with 'Steady Meddi Every Day', Colah Colah delivers a follow-up rather quickly.

However, you can't exactly call this a brand-new album, as the track list mainly consists of revamped versions of older Colah Colah tracks.

Opener 'Power Of Music', a duet with Andrew Tosh, was originally featured on 'Togetherness' from 2015, and the same goes for 'The Beez' (originally from 2013's 'Networks'), 'Jah Mission', here in an excellent duet with Spectacular (from 2018's 'Mission'), and 'Keeping It Real' (from 2015's 'Unstoppable').

Title track 'Steady Meddi', an infectious production over the African Beat riddim, was previously featured on 'Statements', an album Colah Colah recorded with Selvie Wonder in 2022.

Also included is 'International Herbs', Colah Colah's take on Culture's 'International Herb', which was originally part of 'One Love Unity Network Vol. 1', but remains a nice tribute to the recently departed Kenneth 'Culture' Dayes.

What remains are 'Raw Diamond' and 'Freedom', two new tracks, with the former, built over the World A Music riddim, being a real highlight.

Ultimately, 'Steady Meddi Every Day' feels more like a compilation of some of Colah Colah's best tracks rather than an essential addition to his discography.
