King Lorenzo - Stronger (RockyHill Records)

We got to know Lorenzo through his successful collaboration with french label Irie Ites;a collaboration that turned out a good number of singles and a first class album.

With 'Stronger' King Lorenzo now has a follow-up for his debut ready. Triggering the recording of this new opus was a meeting with English veteran Nereus Joseph: "I met Nereus Joseph while I was in the UK. We went to record some tunes at a studio in London where Nereus was working too. I was very impressed with his work and liked the riddims he made, so we started working together and created 'Stronger'."

The chemistry between the two is crealy audible in the form of this great new-roots album. 'Stronger' is a feast for lovers of riddims that refer to the glory days of reggae: there's Bunny Wailer's Ballroom Floor used for 'Feel Like Dancing' or the unforgetable Declaration Of Rights riddim for 'Pressure Me Hard'. The rest of the riddims, composed by Nereus Joseph, have strong influences fom British lovers rock.

King Lorenzo is a roots artist, but on this album he does not limit himself to messages in line with his rasta beliefs as the tracklist of 'Stronger' also contains a fair amount of love songs. For 'This Life', producer Nereus Joseph finally grabs hold of the microphone to join Lorenzo. Highly recommended album!
