King Jammy - Destroys The Virus With Dub (Greensleeves)

King Jammy: "To this day, I love mixing and I love mixing dubs. Getting back to the master tapes is like going back in time and really brings back memories of all these great singers and musicians who I've worked with. When you mix, you can highlight different aspects of the recording - whether it's the singers or any of the individual instruments. A dub mix brings them through space and time and colors each part with echo, reverb, and phasing. Each time I do a new mix, I get a different view of the song, but it's all done live, spontaneous. This project was a pleasure to work on, and I brought together riddims from the early years, like Black Uhuru, Sugar Minott, and Barry Brown, and then moved in the late 80s and 90s with Junior Delgado, Gregory Isaacs, and Frankie Paul. I hope my fans will enjoy this trip down memory lane as much as I did while I was making the album.".

Ook titels als 'Lockdown Dub', 'Quarantined In Dub', 'Track & Trace Dub' of nog 'Dub Tribute To All Hospital Workers' liegen er natuurlijk niet om en om het helemaal af te werken zorgde vaste Greensleeves art designer Tony McDermott voor een passende retro-futuristisch hoesontwerp zoals we die nu al jaren kennen. Zoals Jammy zelf al aangaf in bovenstaand citaat recycleerde hij voor 'Destroys The Virus With Dub' eigen producties voor artiesten als Black Uhuru, Sugar Minott, Barry Brown, Junior Delgado, Gregory Isaacs en Frankie Paul, en na wat speurwerk wisten wij alvast te achterhalen dat opener 'Lockdown Dub' een dubherwerking is van Hugh Mundell's 'Jah Fire Will Be Burning', dat achter 'Quarantined In Dub' Sugat Minott's 'Give The People' schuilgaat, 'Closed Border Dub' een dubversie is van Black Uhuru's 'Time To Unite', Jammy voor 'A New Normal Dub' Frankie Paul's 'Peel Off A Mask' door de mangel haalde, en hij met 'Dub Tribute To All Hospital Workers' hetzelfde deed met Junior Delgado's 'Warrior' aka. 'Warrior No Tarry Ya'.
