Marcus Gad meets Tamal - Brave New World (High Records/Easy Star Records/Baco Records)

Muzikaal gesproken gaf het duo zich daarbij opnieuw alle vrijheid, en naast reggae (het uitstekende 'Callin I Tribe') zijn op het album dan ook net zo goed invloeden uit hip-hop ('Tempo', 'Treasure'), trap ('From The Ashes'), nu-soul ('Young One' met uitstekend orgelwerk door Franck Paulin) en in 'Tempo' zelfs wat Maghrebijnse toetsen, te horen.

Zoals de titel van het album al aangeeft, blijkt Gad een grote fan van het werk van de Brits-Amerikaanse auteur Aldous Huxley, wiens gelijknamige 'Brave New World' uit 1932 ondertussen tot de klassiekers van de wereldliteratuur behoort. In nummers als titelnummer 'Brave New World', 'Between The Lines' (over de rampzalige gevolgen van de klimaatopwarming, waarbij de onheilspellende klank van een doodsklok aangeeft dat het ruim vijf over twaalf is), 'Break The Spell' (na de hoopvolle boodschap van Haile Selassie: "Even in the 21st century with faith courage and just cause David will still beat Goliath.", krijgen we: "Nation set against nation. Total domination is what they envision. To Fulfill it you know they must achieve division and orchestrate a major clash of civilizations, geopolitical-biblical situation!") en 'From The Ashes', beschrijft Marcus de uitwassen en excessen van onze maatschappij, maar vertrouwt hij tegelijk op de menselijke veerkracht en spreekt hij zijn hoop uit in een collectieve bewustwording voor een betere wereld.
