The Zebulonites - The Zebulonites EP (Rebel Sound Records)

De band speelde aanvankelijk nog onder de naam Groundswell, maar nadat gitarist/vocalist Michael Martin aan boord gehaald werd dat dus The Zebulonites. Martin is zelf afkomstig uit Zebulon een klein dorpje in North Carolina. In het Evangelie volgens Mattheüs hoofdstuk 4:13-17 wordt vermeld: "And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying: "The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; the people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up." From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say: "Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.".

Net zoals Christus zijn bekeringsmissie begon in Zebulon, zo startte ook Michaels reggaemissie in een klein dorpje me dezelfde naam. Daarnaast is er natuurlijk nog de connectie met The Tribe of Zebulon, één van de twaalf stammen binnen de Twelve Tribes beweging bij de Rasta's. Op deze EP drie tracks… Opener 'Do You Love Me', een wat onbetekenend liefdesliedje, kon ons nog niet helemaal overtuigen, maar met conscious tracks 'Let Judah In' en vooral afsluiter 'Race War' bewijzen The Zebulonites wel wat ze in hun mars hebben.
