Jahcoustix - Seriously Positive (Irievibrations Records)

Koos Jahcoustix op 'Frequency' nog volop voor een new roots aanpak, dan ging het voor 'Seriously Positive' back to the roots, of zoals hij het zelf samenvat: "With too much programming and drum editing the music loses what it's actually all about: life and a certain degree of roughness that creates a raw groove and a natural and edgy feeling.". Openen doet Jahcoustix met de aanstekelijke old-school ska-tune 'Attack And Release' en voor nummers als 'Change Of Scenery' of 'Clear' keek hij dan weer duidelijk naar vocal trio's als Mighty Diamonds of The Viceroys. Jahcoustix nodigde ook enkele gasten uit: voor 'A Blink Of An Eye' is dat de Duitse zanger Uwe Banton, maar wij hadden het meer voor 'What Makes Someone Leave' waarin Akae Beka aka. Vaughn Benjamin opduikt; meteen ook één van de aanraders op het album. Andere aanraders zijn nog 'Soul Steady' en 'Too Brutal'. 'Seriously Positive' eindigt in stijl met drie uitstekende dubs van de hand van Irievibrations-producer Syrix.
