Jashwha Moses - The Best of Joshua To Jashwha 1978-2019 (Sugar Shack Records)

In 2012 sister label Bristol Archive Records revived the career of Bristolian (resident of Bristol) Jashwha Moses with 'Joshua To Jashwha: 30 Years In The Wilderness', a compilation full of Moses' early work, followed in 2013 and 2015 by 'No War On Earth' and 'The Rising', two new albums. From these three albums, Sugar Shack has now distilled 17 tracks, ranging from opener 'Africa (Is Our Land)', Moses' excellent 1978 debut single produced by Dennis Bovell, to 'Jah Time Has Come', his excellent version over the Promised Land riddim, to 'What A Situation', for which Moses recycled the riddim of the Culture classic 'Natty Never Get Weary'. If you already own those three albums, this compilation is certainly not a must, but for those who still need to get to know Moses' oeuvre, 'The Best of Joshua To Jashwha 1978-2019' is the perfect introduction!
