Once again this year's Easter weekend is dedicated to International Dub Gathering, the annual dub and sound system meeting in Southern Spain, and Rototom Sunsplash's little brother. The festival's lineup again features renowned names from the likes of Channel One, King Earthquake and Iration Steppas, but also a lot of acts waiting to be discovered like Adala featuring King Siva & Kikinho, or Sanga Mama Africa, as well as some misfits like Kode9 and The Bug.
Popular French reggae artist Biga Ranx was a big hit at Rototom's Lion Stage last summer, and will be performing at International Dub Gathering as well longside Atili, in a showcase featuring lots of other deejays and artists: Brigante Takeover! The golden (and gradually almost extinct) roots generation from Jamaica is led by Johnny Clarke, Dennis Alcapone and Martin Campbell. Of course, several guest MC's from England like Murray Man, UK Principal, Joseph Lalibela, Maki Banton and Charlie P (the latter also representing Boxman Records on Friday), will also appear during the four day festival.
Also present is reggae author David Katz, moderator of Rototom's Reggae University, for what will undoubtedly be a happy reunion with Spanish vocal trio of Emeterians in Dub (after the workshop and beach session last summer), Spanish top producer Roberto Sanchez, and Jamaican Suns of Dub (IDG 2016, Barcelona) joined by none other than Earl Sixteen. Green Light, co-organizer of Rototom's Dub Academy, will provide their sound system, as will Sheffield's Sinai Soundsystem, Wandem Soundsystem from Bordeaux and Mexican Stepper who'll join the party all the way from across the Atlantic.
As top of the bill, a true dub masters sound clash, featuring Scientist and Mad Professor, will take place on Saturday. Definitely something to look forward to! On Easter Sunday, Rico of O.B.F. (Original Bass Foundation from Geneva) will confront Buri of Italian Moa Anbessa, Chalart85 and Dennis Capra of Capra Records, and veteran Ras Digby will provide the necessary foundation and roots music on this high day.
