Alpheus - Light Of Day (Liquidator Music)

If those two previous albums already had a vintage touch, then that's definitely the case for 'Light Of Day', sounding like a forgotten LP full of ska (the excellent 'All Together', 'Just A Little', the album's first single), rocksteady ('Nah Go Tek It', 'No Way') and early reggae ( 'Facety Rudie', the excellent closing track 'Past Is The Past', certainly one of the highlights on 'Light Of Day') from the nineteen sixties. Where for 'From Creation' and 'Good Prevails' Sanchez still browsed producer Phil Pratt's back catalog, for 'Light Of Day' he created 11 brand new riddims. It are especially songs like opener and title track 'Light Of Day' (immediately one of our favorites from the track list), 'Apart', 'Positive Move' or 'Love Life', in which the vintage psychedelic sounding organs of Reuben Telford and Mathias Liengme play a leading role, that really drew our attention. With this new but very vintage sounding album, Alpheus and Roberto Sanchez yet again created musical fireworks.
