Exile Di Brave - Exile Di Brave meets Black Star EP (Black Star Foundation)

By Jah Rebel

Following 2015's 'Black Star presents Vivian Jones', Dutch Black Star Foundation now joined forces with Exile Di Brave for 'Exile Di Brave meets Black Star'.

The EP, produced and played by multi-instrumentalist Eelco 'Asher-E' Kastermans and Jamaican Firehouse Crew, counting 5 vocal cuts and 1 closing dub version of opener 'Never Get Weak Yet', on which Exile Di Brave proves his versatility by alternating between new roots, ska ('Buy Lies'), lovers ('Celebrate Our Love') and dancehall ('Earnings'). It was especially 'Spend My Money', a combination with a certain Taxi Red Ash, which caught our attention. The man in question turns out to be none other than the regular taxi driver the crew of Black Star Foundation calls on each time they visit Jamaica. Ash turns out to be blessed with a voice that immediately reminded yours truly immediately of that of Horace Andy (be it a few octaves lower) and is the absolute discovery on this EP!
