The seven piece band draws inspiration from the Jamaican music of the nineteen sixties and seventies and artists like Don Drummond, Prince Buster, The Slackers, Hepcat and Toots & The Maytals. 'It's Detonation Time With...' features 5 energetic ska and rocksteady tunes. Opener 'Big Foot Joe' is the perfect example of the typical tongue-in-cheek slackness for which the ska genre has been known for decades, but for 'Peenie Wallie', also the name of the band's label and Jamaican patois for firefly, The Downbeat Detonators go romantic, and the Dutch conclude shutdown with the socio-critical 'The Wicked Man Must Come Down'. Excellent addition to the Dutch ska-landscape!
