Sizzla - Fought For Dis (AL.TA.FA.AN. Records/Dibyz Music)

The most recent riddim we recognized is 2015's Overdub (see also Gentleman & Nakeisha's 'Cruzin'' or Sara Lugo's 'Without You'), on which Sizzla delivers the excellent 'Love You Jah Jah'. 'Don't Worry', a combination with Mark Wonder and Gentleman was already included on Wonder's 2010 'True Stories Of Mark Wonder And Friends' album, 'Show Me Love', a version over the Tsahai riddim dates back to 2007, and for 'Much More', a song over the Security riddim, we even have to go all the way back to 2004! The most notable name in the guest list of this album is perhaps that of M1, rapper with American hip-hop formation Dead Prez with whom Sizzla recorded the excellent 'Freedom'. 'Fought For Dis' even ends on a Belgian note, as for closing track 'Jamaica', a duet with the otherwise unknown Sugar Cane, the mix was provided by Peter 'Crucial P' Piessens. 'Fought For Dis' certainly contains some highlights, but instead of presenting this as a new album 'Best Of Sizzla At AL.TA.FA.AN.' might have been a more appropriate title.
