This year Greensleeves is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and to give this joyous event the necessary attention, the label will be presenting a number of reissues. First up: Sylford Walker with his iconic 'Lamb's Bread' album recorded for Glen Brown in 1988.
In addition to the eight tracks that made up the original LP, you'll also find as many deejay-versions, for the most part over the same riddims. The deejay responsible for thos cuts was Welton Irie, and his eight versions originally formed his 'Ghettoman Corner' album. Back in 2000 a similar release already appeared on the Blood and Fire label, but that version counted 2 tracks less than this new reissue (Welton Irie's 'Rolling Stone' and 'Jah Come', were not included here, but instead you'll find 'Wicked Tumbling', 'Money Man Skank', 'Greetings' and 'Unite'). Long live Greensleeves and may they continue another forty years!
