Yellam - The Musical Train (Irie Ites Records)

For the album, Yellam took to the Harry J studio in Jamaica, where he collaborated with Roots Radics, as evidenced in title track 'Musical Train'. Yellam's Jamaican adventure had a bitter ending though, as the day after his return to France, he learned of the murder of Lincoln 'Style' Scott. With 'Heaven's Door' Yellam made for a fitting tribute to the legendary drummer. The guest list Yellam put together for the album looks anything but shabby: most eye catching is off course the appearance of Sizzla ('Fruit Of Life'), but Skarra Muci (the catchy 'One Love Jamaica'), Perfect Giddimani ('Celebrate'), Dean Fraser (the r&b-flavored closing track 'Let's Move') and old-school deejays Trinity and Brown ('Try') make an appearance. Even though 'The Musical Train' doesn't contain any classic riddims, thanks to the production of Irie Ites you'll constantly have that impression. Excellent album that grabs you from the first to the last song!
