Various Artists - Junjo presents… (Greensleeves)

The kick-off is given by 'Junjo presents Wins The World Cup', originally a 10 track dub album, released in 1982, winking at the FIFA football World Cup which took place in Spain that year. However, for this reissue, Greensleeves added 6 versions plus a second disc containing no less than 21 vocal cuts over those same riddims, by artists like Johnny Osbourne, Hugh Mundell, Wayne Jarrett, Toyan and Captain Sinbad.
 
Apparently Junjo didn't just like football but was also a keen boxing fan, as in 1980 there were 'Heavyweight Dub Champion' and 'Big Showdown', both presented as a sound clash/boxing match between, then still, Lloyd 'Prince Jammy' James and Overton 'Scientist' Browne. As with 'Junjo presents Wins The World Cup', originally these were two ten track dub albums, but because Greensleeves now added a second disc filled with vocal cuts, has 'Junjo presents Heavyweight Dub Champion' and 'Junjo presents Big Showdown' also tell part of Barrington Levy's story, as no less than 20 of his tracks (including 'Robin Hood' , 'Don't Fuss Nor Fight', 'Bounty Hunter', 'Rock And Come In' and more) can be found on the two albums.
 
No Barrington Levy on 'Junjo presents The Evil Curse Of The Vampires', but instead Michael Prophet ('You Are No Good', 'Hold On To What You Got', 'Youthman'), Wayne Jarrett ('Love In A My Heart') and Wailing Souls ('Oh What A Feeling', 'Firehouse Rock ', 'Bandits Taking Over'), all artists Junjo collaborated with for his Volcano label.
 
Finally the riddims on all four aforementioned albums were performed by Roots Radics, who's sound for a while dominated the reggae productions from the nineteen eighties.
