The Lickshots - The Lickshots EP (Rockers International/Rebel Sound Records)

As is the case with 10 Ft. Ganja Plant, The Lickshots' precise line-up is shrouded in mystery and also where opting for a largely instrumental portfolio (the intros of the songs on the EP features MC Micro Don of New York's Rice And Peace Crew), both bands definitely show similarities. We truly enjoyed the dreamy flute and melodica sounds in 'Warpaint' (and its dub counterpart 'Dubpaint') or the delicious 'Graveyard', and the trombone in 'Loyal Ways' immediately reminded us of 'Man From Wareika', Rico Rodriguez' 1976 masterpiece. Absolute gem and definitely a band to keep an eye on!
