Pablo Moses - In The Future (Grounded Music/Socadisc)

For his first three albums Moses had collaborated with producer Geoffrey Chung and 'Revolutionary Dream', 'A Song' and 'Pave The Way' are still seen as the Holy Grail in Pablo's discography. After the release of 'Pave The Way', however, it came to a rupture between Chung and Island Records boss Chris Blackwell, making Pablo decide to produce 'In The Future' himself. Even though from a financial point of view, that certainly wasn't an easy call, at Tuff Gong he could count on the collaboration of veterans like Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace, Earl 'Wire' Lindo, Dean Fraser, Dave Madden, Nambo Robinson, Sticky Thompson, Skully Simms and Aston 'Family Man' Barrett. At the time of its release, 'In The Future' was still described as: "... the record that inaugurates a non-derivative redefinition or acid reggae.", but today Pablo's vocoder experiments (title track 'In The Future', 'Subway Rider') sound somewhat dated. That being said, the track list also contains well-known Moses-classics like 'Ready, Aim, Fire' or 'Reggae Warrior'. To make this rerelease even more attractive, Grounded Music have added four dub versions to the original track list. Finally, we would also like to draw your attention to the fact the three aforementioned albums will also be made available again both on CD and vinyl and we can also want to whet the appetite of all you Pablo Moses fans out there by letting you know the master is working on a new album, produced by none other than Harrison Stafford, which should hit the shelves somewhere in 2017.
