Spruddy - One (Ockolicious Records)

Apart from the fact we couldn't find fault with any of the tracks on 'One', it was the Spruddy's original country-esque sounding voice that really drew our attention. For some instant recognizability there's 'Forwards Ever', a version over the Stars riddim, and 'Never Regret', a song that's quite clearly based on Beres Hammond's 'Rock Away'. On 'One ' Spruddy is also joined by a few guests and it was especially the lovers ballad 'Thunderstorm' featuring Saralène that drew our attention. With a track list counting barely eight songs, 'One' feels more like an EP than a full-fledged album, but one for which you'll definitely need the repeat button more than once.
