Black Roots - Son Of Man (Soulbeats Records)

Title 'Son Of Man' is of course a reference to the Biblical term used in Jewish tradition to underline the weakness and frailty of man, and for 'Guess Who', a song featuring Solomon, Moses, David, Samson and Delilah and Lot, Black Roots also looked to the Bible for inspiration. Another track that caught our attention is 'Poor Old Mama', talking of the plight of the elderly in our society. A song title like 'Prevention' speaks for itself: prevention is always better than cure! 'Son Of Man' clearly sounds  a lot more upbeat and optimistic than last year's 'Ghetto Feel', perhaps best illustrated by closing track 'One Thing', a song ending with the message: "We will rise again!". That being said, with 'Son Of Man' Black Roots once again delivers a very strong roots album.
