Marga - Gold Dust (Reality Shock Records)

You might still know Marga (born Douglas Gregory), a singjay from Slough, who's been living and working in London for many years now, from 'Walk Like A Jamaican', a 1998 reggae adaptation of The Bangles' 'Walk Like An Egyptian'. Marga was introduced to Kris Kemist by Deadly Hunta (appearing next to Marga in 'Oh Jah') and since then has become a regular at Reality Shock Records. That collaboration already resulted in singles like 'Dem Wrong' (over the riddim we still remembered from Errol Bellot's 'Reality Shock'), 'Chronic' (Free Herbs riddim) and 'Last Chance Saloon', all featured on this long player debut. In addition to the tracks already mentioned, make sure also to check out 'Black Star Liner', for which Marga invited rapper Kelvin 'Silqe' Mcleod, and 'Reggae Music', an excellent tribute to reggae in which Marga honours many of our heroes and their hits. Yet another Reality Shock release that will definitely earn a spot in our collection!
