Junior Cony & Shanti D - The End (Hammerbass)

Jean-Michel Rossignol aka Junior Cony and Shanti D, first joined forces back in 1999, then still as a trio with Mister Irie as the third member. After albums like 'Junior Cony meets Shanti D & Mister Irie At The Government Shop' (Crash Disques, 2003) and 'The Meaning Of Life' (Malana Cream Records, 2008), the aptly titled 'The End' concludes a fruitful partnership of more than fifteen years.

'The End' opens with the dubby and somewhat oriental sounding 'Easy Money', songs like 'Unity', 'Warriors' and 'Here Come The Cop' will rather appeal to lovers of UK steppers and dub and 'Revolution' or 'Anarchy In The UK' (over a revamp of the Sleng Teng riddim) are nudges to the digital dancehall era of the nineteen eighties. Finally for title track 'The End' (and dub version 'The End Dub') Cony recycled the riddim of Serge Gainsbourg's 'Lola Rastaquouère'. Worthy testament of this French duo, that will surely continue to impress us with their solo efforts.
