I Am The Gorgon: excellent documentary on Bunny Lee now finally also available on DVD

Jamaican Recordings/Kingston Records spared no expense on this release. Diggory Kenrick's documentary on the life and work of Jamaican producer Bunny Lee lasts about 85 minutes (with 30 minutes of outtakes added as a bonus) and stylistically is comparable with 'Studio One Story', the 2004 masterpiece about Jamaica's most legendary studio. The cornucopia of interviewed characters from reggae history is certainly impressive and the graphics and visual effects used in the movie leave little to be desired as well. Add to that Bunny Lee's engaging personality (we were struck by the fact no one seemed to have an ill word to say about the man) and the fact the entire documentary is narrated by none other than veteran deejay Dennis Alcapone, and you know you'll be glued to the screen watching. The DVD also comes with a 22 track soundtrack and a 30 page booklet summarizing the content of the documentary. If that's still not sufficient, there's finally also 'Reggae Going International 1967-1976: The Bunny 'Striker' Lee Story', a 200 page biography by Noel Hawks and Jah Floyd that was published in 2012.
