Junior Culture - Heights Of Great Man (Goldcup Records)

Junior's voice and flow are somewhat reminiscent of those of Anthony B (songs like 'Trying' or 'Sweet Loving' are pure Anthony B) and it just happens he is the artist Culture cites as his most important influence. Opener 'Parliment', in which Culture explains that even when you treat her with respect it's not always easy to secure a woman's commitment, is one of the strongest songs from the track list of 'Heights Of Great Man'. That also goes for the next song, 'Burn The Whisperers', a hip-hop-flavored track for which Junior invited Ilements and Kid Sude. 'No Holiday', another duet, this time with Nadia, is an excellent lovers rock tune and if you're looking for a dash of dancehall, you should check out 'Black Woman', an energetic combination with Fyah Shane. Not all tracks on 'Heights Of Great Man' are equally memorable, but Junior Culture is offering this album as a free download on his SoundCloud page, so don't let the opportunity to discover this promising Jamaican artist pass you by!
