R.I.P. Uziah 'Sticky' Thompson

Although Sticky mainly got known as a percussionist for The Wailers, Big Youth, The Mighty Diamonds, Culture, Burning Spear and many others, he started his musical career as a "deejay", producing all sorts of sound effects. Under his moniker Cool Sticky, Uziah can be heard on classics by The Skatalites like 'Guns Of Navarone' and 'Balls Of Fire'. His most famous solo effort is without a doubt 'TrainTo Soulsville'. He recorded it for Joe Gibbs and thus secured a steady stint as a percussionist with Gibbs's house band The Revolutionaries. In recent years Sticky toured with Ziggy Marley and thus completed the circle in his percussion career. Uziah 'Sticky' Thompson got to the ripe old age of 78.
