Each song on 'Gussie presenting The Right Tracks' is followed by different versions and instrumentals over the same riddim. The compilation opens with title track 'The Right Track', an instrumental saxophone version by Tommy McCook over the My Guiding Star riddim and is followed by four versions over the same riddim (including a vocal cut by Leroy Sibbles and a melodica version by Augustus Pablo). Further on in the track list we find 'Delilah', Horace Andy's interpretation of Tom Jones' world hit and 'No, No, No', Leroy Sibbles' version of Dawn Penn's Studio One classic, followed here by 'Magnificent Seven', a brilliant deejay version by I Roy, 'Origan Style', a melodica version by Augustus Pablo and finally 'K.G.'s Halfway Tree', a violin instrumental (played by Jamaican violinist Raymond 'Paganilli' Young, who because of his alcohol abuse was also known as 'White Rum' Raymond). And finally, the excellent liner notes written by Harry Wise offer you an interesting read up on Gussie Clarke's life story. Excellent double compilation album, giving the listener a nice insight in the work of this outstanding Jamaican producer.
