The French toaster Mr Aya won the live finale of the MC part of the Benelux Reggae Contest on Saturday night. Atomic Spliff (B) and Music Machine (F) occupied the second and third place on the stage; Lisa Bennett (B) ended up fourth.
The yearly BRC contest for rising talent from the Benelux is organized since 2010, but this was the first year where a subdivision was made between bands and MC's. Moreover, the geographical participant field expanded from Benelux to 'BeneluXXL', giving French and German artists likewise the possibility to compete for the coveted title.
Mr Aya, Atomic Spliff, Music Machine and Lisa Bennett were selected for the live MC finals in café The Zen in Amsterdam, where Mr Aya was the most convincing candidate according to the jury and the public.
Consequently, he wins, among other things, a showcase on Reggae Geel 2013, and an interview with him will follow later on this website.
