Mavado - Invisible EP (Daseca Productions)

'Invisible', Mavado's latest achievement, is not a full album but an EP featuring five uncensored tracks in the Gully God's signature style. Most songs are in line with Mavado´s previous work which largely consists of gun/ghetto/gangsta tracks on the one hand and gyal tunes on the other. The whole gully Vs. gaza (sparta) buzz has recently flared up again, manifesting itself on this 'Invisible EP' in songs like 'Invisible' or 'Aktion Pack', both raw and militant tunes "straight from the gullyside".

Unfortunately most tracks sound a bit plain and uninspired. It even feels as if Mavado has grown a bit tired of the whole thing and he doesn´t really succeed in transcending tried and tested clichés. The other half of the EP consists of gyal tunes like 'Neva Believe You', 'When You Feel Lonely' and 'Gyal Wine', again hardly surprising of innovative in nature. A track like 'Neva Believe U' certainly isn't a bad effort, but if you´re hoping to find solid hit material on this EP please don't bother!
