Sadiki - Jah Is The Only King (Skinny Boy Records)

Sadiki is a singer who always kept a somewhat low profile. Those of you who do know him most likely remember a few singles but probably don´t know he already has several albums to his name as well. The latest album on the list is 'Jah Is The Only King'.

Sadiki has been recording songs for over fifteen years now. He had some successful dancehall hits ten years ago and toured with Beres Hammond for two years. Afterwards the singer continued his career independently but last year he was noticed again with the release of 'fi di Dancehall', an album featuring Delly Ranks. Sadiki has the voice of a highbred singer with a gentle touch of softness, influenced by R&B. Even though it seems he likes to use auto tune sometimes, he really doesn´t need it as his vocal qualities are great.

'Jah Is The Only King' consists of twelve songs and was largely produced by the artist himself in collaboration with Kemar 'Flava' McGregor and Chris Peckings. Since love in all its manifestations is the main theme on 'Jah Is The Only King', lovers rock is therefore generously represented on this album. A good example of this are the excellent 'Lover's Flight', a song built on the on the same riddim as 'Break Up To Make Up ' by The Heptones or the cheerful 'Destiny's Child'. Also 'Mama' is a striking song as, unlike most tracks dedicated to mothers around the world, it´s layered with humour and witty dialogues in between the choruses.

'Jah Is The Only King' also contains quite some conscious tracks such as; 'Paradise', 'Jah Is The Only King', built on the same riddim as 'It's You I Love' by The Techniques and the fantastic 'All In Love' which is a tribute to the unity between different religions and beliefs: "Christians moving up, moving up Rastaman, Muslims moving up ... ", everyone moving in the same direction! The album closes with 'Live Some Life', a song that gives you an energetic boost that will get you going for the rest of the day!
