Chantelle describes her music as "reggae fusion", making a comparison with Etana almost inevitable.

'Gimme What's Mine' is a strong and varied debut effort and for each track you might like slightly less (for yours truly MTV prefab tune 'Hipnosis' and the in-your-face title track 'Gimme What's Mine') there are several others you won't get enough of.

'Reggae Reasoning', on the eponymous riddim, remains a top track; in the lovers tune 'Sweet Spanish Man' she declares her love to a Spanish stranger and 'If Woman Ruled The World' shows Chantelle's feminist side.
