For fans of Jamaican ska-jazz in the vein of Ernest Ranglin or Monty Alexander, there are once again tracks such as 'Early Morning' - featuring a delightful supporting role from Leonard Lecloarec on tenor saxophone - or 'Stress Less', where Kubix is joined by Aya Kato on piano and Manjul on percussion.

That said, Kubix's guitar does occasionally seem a little less front and centre this time than on predecessor 'Guitar Chant'. As in opener 'Darkness & Light', for example, where the spotlight is given to Leonard Lecloarec's flute, or 'Red Sand', where Kubix's guitar enters into a beautiful dialogue with Aya Kato's piano. In 'Journey' and 'Journey Continued', it is the violin and voice of Indian violinist Sukhdev Prasad Mishra that take centre stage. Even more Asian-inspired textures emerge in 'Lullaby (For Lil' Abi)', where Kubix's guitar work at times feels almost like an Indian sitar.

The standout track on 'Music Activist' is undoubtedly '1957', a title referring to the year French philosopher, writer and journalist Albert Camus was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, with excerpts from his acceptance speech partially included in the track.

With George Harrison's 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' - an almost unavoidable choice for any guitarist - and the soulful 'Let's Stay Together' by Al Green (also known in the Tina Turner version), the track list also includes two successful covers.
