Jah6 - Jah6 (Top-Notch Music/Universal)

Ondergetekende is een zware fan van Jah6 en wachtte na de release van hun debuut EP vorig jaar dus met spanning op een eerste album. Jah6 weet ook die hooggespannen verwachtingen volledig in te lossen. Naast een aantal nummers die al terug te vinden waren op de EP ('Diep in Mijn Hart', 'De Vlieger' en natuurlijk 'Zij Gelooft In Mij'), prijken op dit eveneens titelloze album onder andere een schitterende jazzy rootsversie van Rames Shaffy's 'Laat Me' (inclusief een aantal soundbites van Shaffy zelf), een dancehall herwerking met beiaardintro van Danny de Munk's hit 'Ik Voel Me Zo Verdomd Alleen' (uit de soundtrack van "Ciske De Rat") en Andre Hazes' 'Bloed Zweet & Tranen' in een mix van tango en reggae. Ook de versie van 'Mooi Was Die Tijd' verschilt van die op de EP, want voor de albumversie kon Jah6 Corry Konings overtuigen om zelf het nummer opnieuw in te zingen. Absolute aanrader voor reggaeliefhebbers zonder oog- of oorkleppen op.
