Roger Steffens & Leroy Jodie Pierson - Bob Marley and The Wailers, The Definitive Discography (Rounder Books)

For all reggae music lovers that truly like to see full details on every recording ever made by Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and Bob Marley, these two authors have spent many years in research to write this incredible book with the complete discography from all three historical artists. As an introduction, the journey starts with up close and personal biographies from the Wailers, followed by background information on both authors. Interesting to read, so therefore I have no intention to write a big article about it. Worth to mention is that Roger Steffens and Leroy Pierson both travelled to Jamaica in 1990 at the request of Bunny Wailer, who wanted some help to write a book about Jamaica’s most important vocal Group, the Wailers. Most definitely your eyes will be opened wide when you see that list of recordings, decoding of session dates, record labels, producers, studio’s, master tapes, personal involved and so much more (starting in the year 1962). I didn’t expect to see so much information and I’m surprised to see how extremely busy the Wailers have been, as a group, solo and backing vocalists, or even as session players for great artists such as “Marcia Griffiths, Ken Boothe, Judy Mowatt, Prince Buster, Lee Perry, Jackie Opel, Little Roy, Delroy Wilson, and many others. For those that are interested to buy this book: it has been published by www.rounderbooks.com. In Roger’s lectures it’s great to hear and see the man, who already met a lot of key icons in reggae music, talk passionately about his experiences and life in the scène. For those who like to know more, there’s a lot of information his personal website: www.reggaesupersite.com. (SR)
