Skylarkin' Sound is a Reggae/Dancehall sound, found in 2002, based Motown (Moorsele,BE) and Della Vega (Spanish Town,JA). Members: Thomas, Jazzbo, Ujama Crew.
The foundation of the soundsystem is one with a plan of spreading reggae music & culture, good vibes all over and carrying out a message of peace & love, influenced by the movement of Rastafari. Bringing you the best that Jamaican music has to offer. Selection ranges from the old to the new, Dancehall, Reggae, Rocksteady, Soca, with a preference for the foundation and the new roots section of reggae music. Skylarkin' played at various events like More Fire, Blaze it up!, One Drop Club, Westival, Jah Mek Ya, Irie Vibes Roots Festival (2003, 2005), Djoloff (FR), Amiens (FR), REGGAE GEEL (2005, 2006) and SUMMERJAM (2005, Cologne, Germany), JA,.. longside many national and international live bands and soundsystems like Metromedia, Black Kat, Topaz, Irie Crew, Guiding Star, Civalizee, Rainbow Warrior, Herb-a-lize it, Bescenta, Rebelation, Jahwed,...

On friday 28 October 2008 Skylarkin' released its first production: De Dollar Die (Sensi Addict, early digital) for Ujama label, Old Harbour, Spanish Town Jamaica. The first 7inch vynil release for Jahwed's Nerlock Kila & Black Thunda. Available in BELGIUM, JAPAN, ITALY, USA, GERMANY, UK, JAMAICA. Check your local recordshops, big up all massive and crew!
Reading the Bob Marley biography by his mother Cedella Booker, I got introduced to the verb "to skylark", a typical Jamaican word to express the way of chillin' and relaxing in the green hills where the sun is shining and birds them singing... a term significant for mi lifestyle and values. Did nah need to vote, SKYLARKIN' SOUND was born, unevitably connected with the original Studio One classic by Horace "Sleepy" Andy. A daily part of jamaican way of living. In dutch it means also "leeuwerik" ... man a lion!
