The Groove Station story began in januari 2008. Rooted in plane old Belgian soil, the “station that rules the nation” was a fact. Fireman, Bramma and Rubinho felt it was time to take their love for reggae and dancehall music to another level. All three had been part of Skylarkin’ sound at some point in time, setting Belgian dancehalls on fire since 2002.
Teaming up seemed the best solution for us. Since we all wanted to keep entertaining the reggae masses with the best Jamaica and the Caribbean have to offer in terms of music. Groove Station came along as the next natural thing. As a matter of fact the groove train just took off, destination unknown. In the early beginnings, we made our first partystops in and around our home towns Kortrijk, Gent and Leuven. As time went by, we played in lots off places around the country and abroad (France, Holland, Germany, Czech Republik). Respect still goes out to all who supported us along the way.
Throughout the years, Groove Station has known a few changes: Rubinho is no longer part of the sound while Jugglin Fuego, the selector of the former Uruhu sound, joined the crew recently. Bramma and Fuego are the selectors/DJ's for the sound, while Fireman is the emcee. When you hear Groove Station play, expect the unexpected! Their musical style ranges from original vintage reggae to the latest dancehall productions, from an occasional dubstep track to raw jump up jump up, from jungle to soca, from easy skankin to rough wining and far beyond.. Mix all these ingredients up with 100% pure and uncut energy and you end up with a funky party cocktail that leaves you begging for more. When Groove Station touch down inna your area, full satisfaction guaranteed!!
The main focus of the sound is giving people a good time in the dancehall, playing originals as well as exclusive anthems outta the Groove Station dubbox. Another key element of the sound is promoting and supporting new and fresh reggae talent. Right now we are on the road with Belgiums upcomming singer Collieman. Feel free to check out this wicked voice anytime! If you like it, just contact us. Collieman and Groove Station ready to mash up all your future events!
Groove Station is also a regular guest on radio Pum Pum (monday evenings, 22 till 23 pm). Tune in to urgent.fm and join the party.
