18/02 Welcome Back to Jamrock
Vorig jaar zijn het Jeudghuis Twidrio en Reggae.be in samenwerking gegaan om het 'Jamrock'-project te promoten. Dit had zo'n groot succes in de buurt van Sint-Pieters-Leeuw dat Twidrio dit jaar een tweede editie wilt organiseren, Welcome Back to Jamrock.
De soundsystems dat de vines komen verspreiden zijn Midnight Crew en Heartbeat Movement. Aangezien het de tweede editie is hadden we het graag gevierd en hebben we Original Uman gevraagd om de positieve vibes van de sounds te versterken. Het beloofd een knallend feestje te worden.
We habben niet alleen qua muziek uitgepakt maar er staan een speciale drankje op de lijst namelijk Salitos. Deze fruitige drank is zeer gepast voor dit soort event.

Een roots reggae soundsystem avondje om niet te missen:
* GIRAFFE Soundsystem (op hun eigen soundsytem) warmen op
* PURA VIDA LIVE op het podium met de legendarische zanger CONGO ASHANTI ROY!!
* KING SHILOH Soundsystem en EARL 'Daley' SIXTEEN verzorgen de nachtelijke diepe meditatie!!
Giraffe Soundsystem zag het daglicht in 2004 door Invisible Bram (T-Wood) en MC’s Saimn-I & Original Messenjah. Naar Jamaicaanse traditie hebben ook zij hun eigen soundsystem dat door ingenieur Frenkstar werd gebouwd. Ze specialiseren in oldies van ska, rocksteady tot classic roots, dub, rubadub, funk en wereldmuziek.
Pura Vida is de nieuwe Belgische reggaerevelatie en brengt een mix van reggae, dub, blues, soul, dance en world. Als echte partyband staan ze met elf mensen op een podium en slagen ze er in het publiek direct aan het dansen te krijgen. Pura Vida treedt op met de legendarische Jamaicaanse reggaezanger Congo Ashanti Roy. Ashanti speelde bij The Congos en maakte met Lee Scratch Perry en The Congos de reggaemijlpaal ‘Heart of the Congos’. Mis deze levende legende niet!
King Shiloh is één van de bekendste reggaesoundsystems in Nederland. Soundsystems gaan terug op de mobiele discotheken die in Jamaica opdoken in de jaren vijftig. King Shiloh Soundsystem heeft daarnaast zelfs een eigen radio en label uit de grond gestampt en werkte ook met een hele reeks internationale muzikanten. Earl ‘Daley’ Sixteen is er ook bij en is een reggaezanger uit Jamaica die al van de jaren zeventig meedraait in de internationale reggaescene. Zo werkte hij al samen met Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Derrick Harriot, Clement ‘Coxsone’ Dodd, Mikey Dread, Massive Attack…
